Mickey Bullock liked to think of himself as a ladies man.

He'd travelled extensively as a professional musician and now at the age of sixty two after two marriages, many lovers and affairs too many to mention, he prided himself with having a worldly knowledge of women.

Then he came to Thailand.

He soon realised how different the 'Thai Lady' was from her western sister. Without any grasp or knowledge of the Thai language or culture he understood little of the 'Thai ladies psyche'.

He stayed in Pattaya and met the 'bar-beer-girls', understanding little of the protocols and codes of conduct you need to survive with your wallet and pride intact.

In the Pattaya Go-Go bars he was easy prey, like a mango too long in the tree, ripe and ready for plucking.

He travelled to the north east of Thailand, away from the 'bar-beer girls', 'Go-Go bars' and over-sexed erotic madness that is Pattaya, into the high plains and strange beauty of Isaan and the arms of a dark-eyed bar girl dancer called 'Jarunee'.

His two mates, Frobisher and 'The Commander', seeing he was heeding hardly any of their advice were getting increasingly worried. 'Bloody old fool', said Frobisher, 'He's setting himself up for a fall'. The Commander looked skywards, 'You're telling me mate, he's certainly got a lot to learn, especially about the bar-beer-girls'. Over the following weeks Mickey Bullock was to learn an awful lot, mainly from his own mistakes.

He still foolishly thought of himself as the predatory ladies' man but really he'd become the prey.
